No-Limit Texas Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been branded as the number one poker player on the planet by most of the top professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before reaching turning 1. His grandfather taught him penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to learn whatever he possibly could about the game. Phil routinely told his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t permit the negative feedback from others annihilate his dream of being one of the strongest poker players on the planet.

Phil began playing intently after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his techniques at the casinos of Atlantic City. The beginning few years for Phil were a learning experience and winning wasn’t a regular thing at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved two final tables and came away with his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the closing table he destroyed many of the well known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his skills to the next level and moved out west to Vegas. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Ivey credits his success to discipline and an immeasurable love for poker. Phil states that he’s learning every single day and is very humble about his accomplishments. Phil admits to making errors in each session of poker and always aspires to get better.

Although Phil has come first in some big-time tournaments, he likes winning money games on a regular basis.
