Annie Duke might not have attained her 1st World Series of Poker Bracelet until 2004 but Annie remains one of the most feared poker competitors around the ring matches at The Bellagio in Sin City. Annie’s long-awaited WSOP bracelet came with a win at the "forgotten game" of Omaha Hi-Lo.
While players from the "younger generation" of poker run wild after a huge win at the tables, Annie goes home to be "mum" to her four children. She hails from NH and grew up in a family of poker players. If you do not believe that, watch her sibling, Howard Lederer, when he plays, Howard taught Annie the correct way to compete in poker.
However, Annie Duke is not a small change girl and has won her share of challenging tables, including knocking out Howard along the way on several occasions.
Winning over $3 million in tournament play, Annie branched out to become a consultant to both UltimateBet and actor Ben Affleck, who wanted to develop his techniques and become a force at the poker table.
You may catch her at the Bellagio, you will see her on TV and you might even play with her in a net poker match, but don’t expect an easy win. Unless you’re a rising star, you will not beat her. although, it is likely to be fun to say you played at the same table as "The Duke".
