Online High Stakes Poker- Who is Gus Hansen?

Gus Hansen had a wonderful year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only gambler to make it to the closing poker table in 3 of the events. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he paid $400, 000 to play. You may remember one of the largest pots in high stakes poker history up against Daniel Negreanu. Gus raked in a massive pot with quads against Negreanu’s full house. Hansen has earned many televised poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the greatest gamblers in the world. While wagering on net poker, a different side of Hansen has emerged. He regularly participates in the 200/400 NL maximum buy-in of Forty Thousand dollars. Gus usually buys-in for the min of $16, 000 and gambles very weak. He waits for a good hand and then goes all-in. I accept that Gus is a great poker player but not even close to the familiar players at 200/400no limit. Unless Gus is bankrupt, he has absolutely no reason to sit at the game with the min buy-in.

Playing for the minimum takes a majority of the expertise out of deep stack poker. Hansen is assumed to be 1 of the best players in the world but he cannot buy in for the full amt.. I believe tv can alter our perception of the real world every now and then. The greatest players in the world could be players you have never heard of. Gus can be seen competing in net poker on Full Tilt. He generally participates in big stakes omaha/8 and texas holdem. Gus Hansen has proven himself as a competition player. Can he back up his talents in cash games?
