No-Limit Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been branded as the greatest poker player on the planet by most of the top-ranked professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before reaching turning 1. His grandpa introduced him to one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was hooked on poker and wanted to learn everything he possibly could about poker. He routinely told his parents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. He did not allow the detrimental feedback from other people annihilate his goal of becoming one of the best poker competitors in the world.

Phil started competing seriously after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his skills at the casinos of Atlantic City. The first few years for Phil were a teaching opportunity and winning was not a regular outcome at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 WSOP when he achieved 2 final tables and came away with his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the final table he destroyed quite a few of the better known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his game to the next level and headed out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to dedication and a continuing passion for poker. Phil states that he’s learning every single day and is very abashed about his success. He admits to making mistakes every single game of poker and constantly aspires to improve.

Despite the fact that Ivey has come first in some big-time tournaments, he favors winning money games on a normal basis.
