NL Texas Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been referred to as the greatest poker competitor on the globe by many of the top-ranked pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before reaching turning one. His grandfather taught him penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was hooked on poker and wished to pickup every little thing he could about the game. Phil routinely told his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t allow the adverse feedback from others annihilate his goal of becoming one of the strongest poker competitors on the planet.

He started playing seriously after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his game at the casinos in Atlantic City. The first few years for Phil were a learning opportunity and winning wasn’t a normal outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made two final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the closing table he destroyed many of the better known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his skills to the next level and moved out west to Vegas. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Phil credits his success to hard work and an immeasurable love for the game of poker. He states that he’s learning every day and is quite humble about his accomplishments. He knows he makes mistakes in each game of poker and always aspires to get better.

Although Phil has come first in some large tournaments, he favors destroying cash games on a regular basis.
