NL Texas Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been referred to as the best poker competitor on the globe by many of the top pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before his first birthday. His papa introduced him to one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was hooked on poker and wanted to learn everything he possibly could about poker. He routinely told his grandparents that he was going to be a professional poker player. He didn’t permit the detrimental comments from others annihilate his dream of becoming one of the best poker competitors on the planet.

Phil started playing seriously after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his skills at the casinos in Atlantic City. The beginning few years for him were a learning opportunity and coming away with a win wasn’t a normal thing at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 WSOP when he made two final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the last table he destroyed many of the better known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his skills to the next level and moved out west to Vegas. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to discipline and an undying love for poker. Phil says that he is learning every day and is incredibly abashed about his accomplishments. Phil knows he makes errors in each game of poker and always aspires to improve.

Even though Phil has won some large tournaments, he favors winning cash games on a normal basis.
